METADATA COMMITTEE

The ACCSP Metadata Committee is composed of partner staff who work on commercial fisheries statistics, including port agents, law officers, and biologists. The Committee is responsible for identifying sources of metadata, defined by the ACCSP as "corollary or descriptive information, both numeric and non-numeric, which may qualify or explain primary data." The Committee makes recommendations on which metadata sets are of the highest quality and recommends how metadata may be integrated into the ACCSP data warehouse. The Committee will also craft funding proposals for development of the major metadata applications: partner documentation, statutory/regulatory, fishing technology, environmental, and socioeconomic.
